2023 Postseason Teams now available!

The 2023 Postseason Teams database includes all of the rosters, stats, ratings, manager profiles, park factors and other details that you need to play along with the 2023 MLB Playoffs. This database is being provided free of charge for customers who bought the 2023 ZiPS Projection Season database before October 1st, 2023.

For this release, all players have been updated with their end-of-regular-season stats and the player ratings have been carried over from the 2023 projections database. In most cases, the 26-man rosters are our best guess since most teams had not announced their playoff rosters before the database was prepared for release.

This database includes the 12 teams that qualified for the 2023 MLB postseason with the Wild Card round matchups and schedule set.

From the American League: Baltimore Orioles, Houston Astros, Minnesota Twins, Tampa Bay Rays, Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays.

From the National League: Arizona Diamondbacks, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies.

Here's your chance to manage all these teams in postseason play to determine the 2023 World Series Champion!

If you bought the 2023 ZiPS Projection Season before October 1st, 2023, you should be receiving an email notifying you that an update is available that includes the link to download the postseason teams file. Remember to check your spam/junk folder, but if you do not receive the update email, contact us at dmb_info@imaginesports.com to request your copy.

The 2023 Postseason Teams set can also be purchased separately for $9.95.

Note: This season database is a companion product for the Diamond Mind Baseball version 12 game. To use this database, you must also have Diamond Mind Baseball version 12. 1954 Deluxe Past Season with transactions and lineups available now!

1954: A Baseball Season for the Ages

Oh, what a season! The 1954 Major League Baseball season was an absolute roller coaster of excitement, full of thrilling games, incredible talent, and unforgettable moments. It was a year that saw the rise of new legends and the continuation of storied rivalries, with heroes emerging to inspire generations to come.

The stage was set early on, with a fierce competition between the New York Giants and the Brooklyn Dodgers in the National League. The Giants, led by the brilliant young center fielder Willie Mays, were an unstoppable force throughout the season. Mays, who had only recently returned from military service, was on fire. His famous over-the-shoulder catch in the World Series, now known as "The Catch," remains one of the most iconic moments in the history of the sport.

The Dodgers, on the other hand, were no slouches themselves. With a roster packed with talent, including stars like Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, and Roy Campanella, Brooklyn was ready to make its mark. The rivalry between these two powerhouses had fans on the edge of their seats all season long, as they battled it out for supremacy in the National League.

Over in the American League, the Cleveland Indians were the team to beat. They finished the regular season with an astounding record of 111-43, setting an American League record for the most wins in a single season. Led by the legendary pitching duo of Bob Lemon and Early Wynn, the Indians boasted a formidable rotation that was the envy of the league. Add in the offensive prowess of Al Rosen, Larry Doby, and Bobby Avila, and the Indians seemed unstoppable.

As the season progressed, it became increasingly clear that the World Series was going to be a showdown for the ages. The Giants ultimately emerged victorious in the National League, earning the right to face the juggernaut Indians in a best-of-seven series. Baseball fans everywhere were salivating at the prospect of this epic clash.

The 1954 World Series, however, proved to be a stunning upset. The New York Giants, seemingly the underdogs, defied all expectations and swept the mighty Cleveland Indians in just four games. The Giants' pitching staff, led by Johnny Antonelli and Ruben Gomez, was absolutely dominant, silencing the Indians' powerful lineup. At the plate, Dusty Rhodes provided some unexpected heroics, with four hits in only six at bats with two home runs and seven RBIs in a limited role.

But it was Mays' catch in Game 1 that has become the defining moment of the 1954 season. With the score tied in the eighth inning and two runners on base, Cleveland's Vic Wertz hit a deep drive to center field. Mays raced back to make a spectacular over-the-shoulder catch, then spun and threw the ball back to the infield to prevent the runners from advancing. The play is still regarded as one of the greatest in baseball history, and it helped the Giants win the game and ultimately sweep the series.

As we look back on the 1954 Major League Baseball season, it's hard not to get swept up in the excitement and drama that unfolded. It was a year that featured some of the greatest players to ever don a uniform, and it provided moments that will forever be etched in our memories. From the intense rivalry between the Giants and Dodgers to the stunning World Series upset, the 1954 season was truly one for the ages. So here's to 1954, a baseball season that will never be forgotten!

The "Starting Pitcher as DH" rule

Beginning in 2022, MLB introduced a new Starting Pitcher as Designated Hitter rule -- commonly known as the "Ohtani rule". This rule allows a team to choose the same player as both the starting pitcher and designated hitter (DH) and then make in-game substitutions as if there are two different players in the lineup.

If you have the version 12a patch installed, this new rule can be set with the "Starting pitcher as DH" option in your League or Organization's Rules/options page and will be enabled by default for the 2022 season.

Therefore, it is necessary to have the version 12a patch installed to be able to play the 2022 season and take advantage of this new rule.

If you don't already own the Diamond Mind Baseball: Version 12 game you can buy the game together with the 2022 Annual Season Database and save $10 off the total price.  Add both items to your cart and enter the shopping code NEW2022BUN on the checkout page to apply the discount.
