Bandleaders Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Count Bassie, and Benny Goodman kept couples in dance halls booging, cutting rugs, and jitterbugging well into the night. The most popular song in 1941 was “Chattanooga Choo-Choo” by the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
